Have you ever dreamt of India getting developed like countries such as Japan, United Kingdom or the USA keeping its culture intact? Yes, we all share that dream. In fact, we are having a golden chance to fulfil this vision with the path breaking policy of Land Pooling Policy (LPP). This policy has the potential to change the entire landscape of India. Particularly in Delhi, the land pooling got sanctioned by the Delhi Development Authority in September 2013. Contrary to the detrimental Land Acquisition Act through which the government used to acquire land from the farmers, this policy creates a medium where different individual farmers can pool their land and hand it to the government. Where farmers used to get a meager compensation and almost no land back in the acquisition act, now, the farmers shall get around half of their pooled land at a new location. Besides that, these individual land owners will be shareholders of the great development that would be happening under this policy.
Master Plan Delhi 2021 had envisioned this development which will make the farmers’ life easy. A nation’s food producers should be the priority for that government and this is an opportunity for the Delhi government to prove its worth to the people. Apart from the fair compensation, LPP will bring a revolution in Indian residential and commercial spaces that will be built by the private entities. The private entities will buy the land from the government after the latter completes infrastructure on this land. A total of 2.5 million affordable houses come under this initiative of MPD-2021. Affordable comfortable houses will be a godsend thing for the poor and middle class people.
