DDA Gets a New Vice-Chairman As Mr.Tarunkapoor Takes Charge

On 30th September the vice-chairman of Delhi Development Authority Mr.UdayPratap Singh was superannuated. A senior IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh Mr.TarunKapoor took the charge on Monday as the new vice-chairman of DDA.

A 1987 batch IAS officer he is from Himachal Pradesh cadre. Before joining the services Mr.TarunKapoor was an electrical engineer, he also has an MBA degree. Prior to taking charge of vice-president of DDA, he was posted as the chairman of the Himachal Pradesh state electricity board.

After taking charge on Monday Mr.Kapoor took a long meeting with DDA officials. He discussed and took stock of various projects that are on-going in the Delhi Development Authority. He also discussed major policies with different departmental heads of DDA and other senior officials. According to DDA officials, Mr.Kapoor acknowledged that he has been working in the power sector and he would take some time to familiarize himself with the working of DDA including land development and management.

Mr.Kapoor will be joining a DDA which has been in news recently for demands of traders against sealing, and the news of amendment to the master plan for Delhi 2021. Land pooling policy has also been approved, it is one of the ambitious tasks of DDA, and Mr.Kapoor will be supervising the implementation as soon as the policy is notified.

The launch of the new housing scheme is also set, though the popular perception was that it might be launched in 2018, the housing scheme will be launched in 2019. This will also be one of the major tasks for Mr.Kapoor during his term at Delhi Development Authority.
